Artful Rigger - Ben Smith
Ben Smith is a brilliant rigger who understands exactly what both performers and production teams need.
As an ex-aerialist, Ben knows what aerial acrobats like and makes sure that they get it. He keeps silks clean, makes sure everything is set up to the performer's requirements and keeps artists safe.
His years of experience in circus, events and industry mean that he has a wealth of experience to draw upon, plus a creative way of working in each situation.
Ben works with the event production to ensure the smooth running of installation, de-rig and paging in and out of equipment during shows.
Starfiz - two woman aerial show
Katie provided a variety of aerial acts with her aerial partner, Leyla, to the 2015 London Bierfest - a lively German style beer festival in Old Billingsgate.
There were 2,200 guests at the venue, viewing the shows on two different levels. By staging the aerial acts at different heights we made sure that everyone could see the shows.
The aerial acts were performed with live band, the Voodoo Love Orchestra, joining them for the first and last numbers in two shows.
DesignGuise made lederhosen costumes for the Bavarian theme, which we wore in the first show. In the second show we matched the band in black, white and red.
Katie opened the first show with an aerial rope act to the Voodoo Love Orchestra's version of 'Fever', a sensual act with flexible shapes and dramatic drops.
The Aerial Sphere closed the first show, with fast spins, longs legs, flowing hair and daring moves.
Leyla opened the second show with a fast spinning aerial hoop act, flowing between flexible shapes and interesting transitions.
The synchronised silks was saved for the closing act, a dramatic image with the biggest drops.
